Ribbon cutting launches new mobile PA CareerLink bus for North Central counties

by Justin Trent / WJAC News

State and local officials gathered in Elk County for a ribbon cutting to introduce a new mobile PA CareerLink unit serving several North Central Pennsylvania counties.

Officials said the mobile bus will bring workforce services directly to communities across Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter counties.

Staff say the program will connect job seekers and students with training, career resources, and support for local businesses.

Leaders add the goal is to strengthen the state's workforce by providing necessary skills for employers.

Nancy Walker, Secretary at the Department of Labor and Industry, said, "Governor Shapiro is so committed to making sure that we are creating workforce opportunities for people all across Pennsylvania. This is a wonderful example of being able to bring these opportunities to people where they live, regardless of their zip code. And this particular unit, we can not only get job seekers who are young people, not so young people, but we also are handicapped accessible."

Officials said this now marks the third mobile PA CareerLink unit used in the state.
